Our sailing, boat building and maritime history curriculum offers various
opportunities to use your skills or interest as a volunteer.
Sailing in the Fall
- Help us prep Zephyr, our 22’ Sharpie, for spring launch.
- Help plan and coordinate environmental science experiences for our students on the harbor islands.
Boat Building
- On Thursday nights volunteers work to complete the boats that the student teams build. This does not require extensive
experience but it is helpful if you are comfortable getting you hands dirty, doing basic carpentry and painting.
- There are also opportunities to do projects that keep the shop ready for each new class, organized and clean.
Oral History Project
- In the spring we organize an oral history project focused on the study of African
American involvement in the maritime trades. You might be able to offer your personal history to this
effort or just help us coordinate the participants who work with the students.
Please call or email to join our growing team of volunteers. It is fun, interesting and you meet new
friends with similar interests.
